Why was your bookstore founded/what role does it play in the community?
Our bookstore was founded to make reading accessible and exciting. We see ourselves as both a resource and a reflection of our community in all its dazzling diversity and desire for learning.
Which champion/warrior/wildcat (real or mythological) does your bookstore channel most?
Author Jewell Parker Rhodes who is “Dedicated to the belief that we can all do better, be better, live better. We owe our best to each and every child.”
What makes your bookstore unique?
We are carefully curated but with a broad selection of titles and subjects for every curious child.
What is something that no one knows about your bookstore?
For almost 25 years, Children’s Book World has had a dedicated non-profit arm committed to serving children all over Los Angeles who have been deprived access to and the opportunity to experience impactful, life-changing stories and books. It has helped create paths to literacy and higher learning for many young people in our community.
