Why was your bookstore founded/what role does it play in the community?

The Ripped Bodice was founded to serve the global community of romance readers and to give these readers a place to gather (literally and emotionally) and build connections based on the books we love that celebrate romance, happy endings, and joy in everyday life.

Which champion/warrior/wildcat (real or mythological) does your bookstore channel most?

We channel the Amazons of Themyscira (that’s where Wonder Woman is from for the uninitiated). Misunderstood and mocked by those on the outside, but actually a strong and tight knight community of powerful badasses who don’t believe in conforming to society’s expectations when they don’t want to.

What makes your bookstore unique?

We specialize in romance novels! Only one other bookstore in the United States does that.

What is something that no one knows about your bookstore?

One of the owners believes there is a friendly ghost in the attic and the other owner does not believe that ghosts are real.
