What are the 3 adjectives you would use to describe your bookstore?

Eclectic, Black, Community

Share a quote from a book or poem that bares your bookstore’s soul.

“Celebrate with me that everyday something has tried to kill me and has failed.”

Won’t you celebrate with me / Lucille Clifton

Why was your bookstore founded/what role does it play in the community?

Rep Club was founded as a concept bookshop and creative space Curated by Blackness™ that provides not only a safe space but an essential one for Black voices, creativity, and beyond.

Which champion/warrior/wildcat (real or mythological) does your bookstore channel most?

A Cheshire Cat; we’re a bit of an oddball but can definitely point you in the direction of something magical.

What makes your bookstore unique?

From the decor to the staff to the shelves, Rep Club is an experience and space curated by Blackness in all its forms. We care deeply about our community and ensuring Black art, creativity, and literature has not just a shelf, but a home.

What is something that no one knows about your bookstore?

Many of the colors and textures you see throughout the space are tied to very specific memories and books from our founder Jazzi’s childhood! Like her dad’s green shag carpet, Faith Ringgold’s books and quilts, and Blue Magic hair grease.
