Why was your bookstore founded/what role does it play in the community?

One of the most important reasons that Medicine For Nightmares was founded was to continue the deep literary legacy and tradition that has always been an essentials and vital part of La Mission here in San Francisco,

Which champion/warrior/wildcat (real or mythological) does your bookstore channel most?

We channel the axolotl and the donkey for real. Also the ghost of Alfonso Texidor’s limp often comes off of 24th street to gives us a good kick in the ass.

What makes your bookstore unique?

Medicina Para Pesadillas is not just a bookstore, it is a portal, a sanctuary, a resting place for the deep raices of poetry and literature that are a part of this neighborhood. It is a place where our connected communities can see and recognize themselves. This space is home.
